Meagan Downey, MBA, CFRE, is a philanthropy professional and a Principal for Praximity Consulting Group, LLC. Currently based in Vermont with clients across the U.S., Meagan is an experienced advisor to nonprofit, for-profit and government agencies with a strong track record of success in strategic business planning/execution, executive leadership, fundraising and public relations, building high-performing teams, systems planning and integration, program and project management, crisis communications and change management.
In addition to working with Praximity, Meagan serves as Senior Vice President for Ter Molen Watkins and Brandt, a national consulting firm, and a Consultant for Youth Catalytics, where she oversaw all aspects of providing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Adolescent Health grantees with capacity-building assistance and training in communications and dissemination.
Meagan has helped small and mid-sized nonprofits to realize aggressive growth and diversification for over a decade, raising over $100 million. She provides executive coaching and training, and has lectured at the undergraduate and graduate levels on nonprofit management, staff and board development, the strategic use of new media to advance mission, and building a culture of philanthropy.
Meagan joined Praximity Consulting Group after serving as Vice President of Development and Marketing for 2 large health care affiliates. She has served in senior management positions during leadership transitions and her board leadership experience includes serving as Vice President for the United Way of the North Shore (IL).
Meagan has an MBA from Champlain College and a BA in Psychology from DePaul University. She obtained a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the Lilly School of Philanthropy, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis in 2006 and has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2009.
